The UGM Undergraduate Nuclear Engineering Study Program is one of the study programs under the auspices of the Department of Nuclear Engineering and Engineering Physics (DTNTF) FT UGM. As the only undergraduate Nuclear Engineering major in Indonesia, this study program has a vision, namely “To become a superior higher education institution in the field of nuclear technology”. In line with this vision, the UGM Undergraduate Nuclear Engineering Study Program is committed to providing quality education, both in terms of basic engineering and nuclear engineering specifically.

In carrying out its function as an educational institution, the UGM Undergraduate Nuclear Engineering Study Program has 2 Expertise Groups (Kelompok Bidang Keahlian or KBK), where the KBK itself is a functional group consisting of a number of academic staff who have certain scientific disciplines and expertise in related scientific areas. The KBKs in the UGM Undergraduate Nuclear Engineering Study Program include the Nuclear Energy KBK and the Nuclear Process KBK.

KBK 1: NUCLEAR ENERGY

Computational Nuclear Engineering

This scientific field focuses on research and development of computational methods related to the field of nuclear engineering, including:

Neutronics and radiation aspects
Fluid dynamics, heat transfer and mass transfer aspects
Nuclear engineering optimization
Development of calculation algorithms
Coupling between codes for multiphysics calculations
Currently, there are two DTNTF lecturers with this expertise, namely:

Dr. Ir. Alexander Agung, S.T., M.Sc., IPU.
M. Rizki Oktavian, S.T., M.S.E.
Advanced Nuclear Reactor Science Field

This science field focuses on research and development of advanced nuclear reactors that are able to overcome current nuclear reactor design problems, especially from the aspects of:

Sustainable use of nuclear fuel resources
Reduction of radioactive waste
Improvement of safety, security and safeguard aspects
Simplification and flexibility in its use
Increased reliability
Currently, there are two DTNTF lecturers with this expertise, namely:

Dr. Ir. Andang Widi Harto, M.T., IPU.
Yanuar Adi Setiawan, S.T., M.S.
Scientific Field of Nuclear Safety, Security and Safeguards

This scientific field focuses on research and development of concepts, methods and systems related to:

Nuclear safety (layered defense concept, accident ranking and safety system determination, evaluation of radioactive material release, nuclear accident impact estimation)
Nuclear security (threat determination, formulation of detection, delay, response concept application)
Safeguard (nuclear material evaluation, etc.)
Currently, there are two DTNTF lecturers with this expertise, namely:

Andhika Yuda Prawira, S.T., M.S.
KBK 2: NUCLEAR PROCESS

Nuclear Process Technology

This scientific field focuses on the development of nuclear technology process design and/or its application which has advantages including the following:

More efficient,
More effective,
Cheaper,
More supportive of the use of Indonesian natural resources, not imported products,
More environmentally friendly
Pay attention to the 3S aspect (safety, security and safeguards)
In addition, this scientific field also focuses on calculating, evaluating, estimating, and designing nuclear process systems and various components needed to support certain process systems.

Currently, there are three DTNTF lecturers with this expertise, namely:

Dr.-Ing. Ir. Ester Wijayanti, M.T.
Dr. Ir. Widya Rosita, S.T., M.T., IPU.
Scientific Field of Radioactive Waste Management Technology

This scientific field focuses on the management of spent fuel from nuclear power plants and the development of spent fuel storage facilities.

Currently, there are two DTNTF lecturers with this expertise, namely:

Ir. Susetyo Hario Putero, M.Eng.
Ir. ​​Yudi Utomo Imardjoko, M.Sc., Ph.D.
Scientific Field of Medical Physics Technology

This scientific field focuses on research and development as well as learning from the aspects of:

Utilization of nuclear and radiation technology for medical physics
Ionizing radiation dosimetry for patients and radiation workers in the fields of radiotherapy, radiology, nuclear medicine.
Microdosimetry of therapeutic protons and heavy ions for determining Relative Biological Effectiveness.
More practical utilization of radiation and radioisotopes and radiopharmaceuticals.
Design, modeling, production, characterization, and calibration of radiation detection and monitoring instruments.
Human and preclinical animal modelling for radiation transport simulation.
Computational medical physics.
Currently, there are three DTNTF lecturers with this expertise, namely:
