On March 7, 2022, the Women in Nuclear Security Initiative (WINSI) in collaboration with Amity University-INDIA held the International Nuclear Security Education Forum Webinars. This webinar was held in commemoration of International Women’s Day . The event was attended by students, young alumni and academics from universities with education in the field of nuclear security, nuclear security professionals, members of the Women in Nuclear organization and individuals interested in the field of nuclear security.

At the webinar, the younger generation was facilitated to speak in a panel session. They shared experiences and hopes regarding the contribution of regional nuclear security education programs to increasing women’s representation in this field. It aims to provide opportunities for young people to learn, connect and network with academics, stakeholders, policy makers and NGOs. WINSI also hopes that this webinar will encourage the world of education to develop and promote more young women in the field of nuclear security.

In this webinar, the representative from Nuclear Engineering UGM, Ms. Wahyu Amalia Nurbaiti, ST, was asked to be a speaker in the Young Generation Perspectives Panel session with representatives from Amity University-India and University of Dhaka-Bangladesh. Wahyu Amalia Nurbaiti, who just graduated on February 23, 2022, spoke as a representative of universities in the Southeast Asia region.

In his presentation entitled “Education of Nuclear Security in UGM for Woman Student”, Wahyu explained several things related to the UGM Nuclear Engineering Study Program as well as several courses related to Nuclear Security. Wahyu also showed that 75.86% of female students chose to emphasize their interest in Medical Physics. He also noted that learning on the implementation of Nuclear Security in the field of Medical Physics is still very low compared to learning in the emphasis on Nuclear Energy Technology.
